It has one of the most consistent reputations of any herb across history specifically for memory — ancient Greek scholars reportedly wore rosemary garlands while studying to aid recall, and the herb became so associated with remembrance that it was traditionally placed in wedding bouquets and funeral wreaths alike, symbolizing both love and remembrance of the departed.

Notably, one study found the effect was dose-dependent in an unusual way — 750mg improved memory performance, while 6,000mg impaired it, a reminder that "more" isn't automatically better with herbal compounds.
On hair growth, rosemary's reputation rests heavily on a single, frequently cited trial comparing rosemary oil to 2% minoxidil, which found comparable results at six months. That's a genuinely interesting result, but building a broad claim on largely one head-to-head trial (plus a handful of smaller, industry-sponsored serum studies) is exactly the kind of evidence base that earns a "Limited" rather than "Moderate" rating here — the underlying signal looks real and mechanistically plausible, but the trial base is thin and needs independent replication at scale.
