A currently-recruiting clinical trial investigating chestnuts and blood sugar response states in its own protocol that "no research has investigated the health effects of chestnuts in humans" to date. Existing claims about chestnut's cardiovascular benefits rest on its nutrient content and general nutritional logic extrapolated from other foods, rather than chestnut-specific human trials.
