Cacao flavanols have one of the more substantial and consistent evidence bases in this Atlas for blood pressure specifically, replicated across numerous independent meta-analyses spanning over a decade. A meta-analysis of 10 randomized controlled trials (297 participants) found cocoa products produced a mean reduction of 4.5 mmHg in systolic and 2.5 mmHg in diastolic blood pressure.
